Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP)

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test or SNAP  is held in December. Symbiosis International University (SIU), the conducting authority, declare the SNAP result in January. The result are declared online at the official website of SNAP. The candidates Based on the scores of SNAP and performance of the candidates in GE-PIWAT, they will be allotted admission into various MBA programs offered by institutes affiliated to SIU.

SNAP: Eligibility Criteria

For SNAP MBA Exam the applying candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree passed with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in any discipline and from any recognized/statutory University or Institute. Those who possess a degree from any Foreign University, then he/she have to get a certificate of equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Since this test is common for various programs of specific discipline or subject specialization, the candidates should check the individual eligibility criteria as given by the respective Institute.

Reservation of SNAP

All the institutes affiliated to Symbiosis University with the exception of Symbiosis Institutes of Management Studies have this reservation policy as per the UGC Regulations/ Guidelines.

Within Sanctioned Intake
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 15%
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST) - 7.5%
  • Differentl-abled - 3%
  • Over & Above Intake
  • Kashmiri Migrants - 2 seats per program
  • International Candidates - 15%
The candidates belonging to categories other than Open Category, if shortlisted, will be required to submit valid supporting documents at the time of GE-PIWAT.

Defence Category
- General    80% seats for dependents (Children/Ward) of Defence
personnel
Defence category- Special    10% seats for dependents of Defence personnel killed in action, disabled in action, next of kin of service personnel who
have died while in service, death being attributable to military service
Open Category -10% seats for civilian candidates sponsored/recommended by the Industry
Over and above intake
Officers of Armed Forces on Study Leave as authorized by respective Services HQs are granted automatic admission subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

SNAP Registration

Candidates aspiring to join select postgraduate programmes of Symbiosis International University have to apply and appear for Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Entrance (Online) Test (www.snaptest.org)
The registration process for SNAP starts from August. Indian nationals and NRI candidates (graduated from a recognised university in India) shall have to apply under SNAP to seek admission to the select Postgraduate programmes of Symbiosis International University.

An NRI candidate (graduated from a recognised university in India) after having applied for SNAP has the option of consideration of his candidature as national student or under NRI category. In case a NRI candidate chooses to apply under NRI category, he will have to further register and apply through Symbiosis Center for International Education. 

However, OCI/ PIO/ Foreign National/ NRI candidates (having passed graduation from a recognised foreign university) are exempted from appearing for SNAP and have to apply through Symbiosis Center for International Education (www.scie.ac.in).

SNAP Registration Procedure

Post registering for SNAP, you also have to register for the different institutes. This is the college where you would be pursuing your future education and all needed information can be availed from www.snaptest.org. The list of all the SIU affiliated institutes will be available in the institutes registration form. You have the option to choose any number of institutes here and pay a registration fee of Rs. 1000/-via given payment modes.

SNAP Test Pattern & Structure

The SNAP exam includes four sections like-
  • General English- It includes Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, and Verbal Ability
  • Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency
  • General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario
  • Analytical & Logical Reasoning
The maximum marks of 180 would be distributed 40, 40, 40, 60 pattern and divided into 150 questions in the exam. The test duration is 2 hours with multiple type questions. Each wrong answer means 25% negative marks. The candidates are to use blue or black ball pen only.

SNAP Selection Procedure

The selection is done on the basis of score of exam and weightage of personal interview and written ability test post the results announcement. The PI and WAT is done candidates for those who passed the SNAP exam. WAT has 15 marks.

Data Interpretation
This is based on text, graphs and tables. Graphs can be Column graphs, Bar Graphs, Line charts, Pie Chart, Graphs representing Area, Venn diagram, etc. Critical reasoning, Visual reasoning, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Cause and Effect, Identifying Probably true, Probably false, definitely true, definitely false kind of statement, Linear arrangements, Matrix arrangements, Puzzles, Syllogisms, Functions, Assertion and reasons, Statements and assumptions, Identifying valid inferences, Identifying Strong arguments and Weak arguments, Statements and conclusions, Family tree – identifying relationship among group of people, Symbol Based problems, Coding and decoding ,Sequencing ,Identifying next number in series, Etc.

General English
Comprehension of passage  or poems, Verbal Reasoning, Jumbled paragraphs with 4 or 5 sentences, Jumbled paragraphs (6 sentences with first and last fixed), Sentence Correction, Syllogisms, Contextual usage, Analogies, Antonyms, Foreign language words used in English, Sentence completion, Sentence correction, Odd man out, Idioms, One word substitution, Different usage of same word, Etc.

General Awareness
