Maharashtra TET

The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations, Pune conducts the Maharashtra State Teacher Eligibility Test for the appointment of primary (Classes I to V) and elementary (Classes VI to VIII) school teachers within the state of Maharashtra. The test is conducted twice every academic year and the validity period of TET qualifying certificate is for seven years from the date of award of Maharashtra TET certificate. There is no restriction for candidates on the number of attempts for acquiring a TET certificate. A person who is a qualified TET may also appear again for improving his/her own score.

Maharashtra TET Exam Dates

The Maharashtra State Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is generally conducted in the month of June / July. Its a two paper examination for selection of teachers in the Schools of Maharashtra.

Maharashtra TET Eligibility Criteria

The age of the candidate should be between 18-40 years.

For Paper 1

  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their class 12 or other equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised board.
    Or
    Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation with Diploma in Elementary Education from a recognised university or institution.

For Paper 2

  1. Candidates should have successfully completed their B.Ed or Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) degree from a recognized university/ institution.

Maharashtra TET Exam Pattern

  • Question Type: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Exam Type: Paper-pen based OMR entrance assessment
  • Marks: 1 mark each, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers

PAPER 1 for Classes I to V

  • Total marks: 150
  • Number of questions: 150 Time
  • Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes

Maharashtra TET Selection Process

  1. Candidates who wish to be a teacher for classes I to V should appear for Paper I and those who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII should appear for Paper II. Candidates who intends to teach Class I to VIII will have to appear for both Paper I and Paper II.

  2. Candidate should score a minimum of 60% marks in Maharashtra TET to be considered as TET pass. However, candidates belonging to SC,ST,VJ,NT,OBC, differently abled persons, should score a minimum of 55% or more in the TET exam to be considered as TET pass. The state government will award certificates to all TET passed candidates.

Maharashtra TET Application Process

  1. Candidates are required to apply online by visiting the official website:- https://www.mahatet.in
  2. Fill up the application form by giving all the appropriate details.
  3. Finally get a printout of the filled in application form and keep it for future reference.
  4. The application process is finally complete with the payment of application fees using Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card.
