There is ever increasing demand for Ayurvedic Physicians and Teachers across the country. To train expert Ayurvedic doctors, Maharashtra government have set up many educational institutes to impart quality education in ayurveda. The study of Ayurveda originated more than 3,000 years ago.The study has still not lost it charm and has become part and parcel of the national healthcare system.
In this western part of India, you can find many educational colleges and universities offering UG and PG courses in the field of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery. Students interested in biology stream at the intermediate level can apply for various undergraduate courses in Ayurveda. The courses taught are aimed to provide the theory as well as practical training to the students of Ayurveda.
Students interested in postgraduate studies can opt for specialization from various area of Ayurvedic studies. Some of the popular specializations are Kaya Chikitsa, Panchakarssa, Drayyaguna, Salya, Salyaka and Prasutitantra, Rasasatra and Kshar Sutra. Apart from MD specialization you can also go for PG Diploma programmes or research programme like Ph.D.
Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent qualification, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology as main subjects. Admission to BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) in Maharashtra is done on the basis of state and national level entrance test.
